Tampa, FL (Vocus) July 27, 2010

On Monday July 26th at 9:00 PM Eastern A&E’s television show, Intervention, aired with “The Story of Amber.” Town & Country Hospital’s ARU was selected to provide Amber detox treatment on her journey to recovery. Town & Country Hospital’s ARU is one of the few hospitals in the country that provide a hospital based medically supervised detox program. www.townandcountryhospital.com

Detox is a very important step and often a difficult obstacle for patients to go through as they seek help for their addiction. The detox program at Town and Country Hospital includes a personalized assessment, medication management to control the symptoms of detox, addiction education, group therapy, family support groups, and discharge referral planning. The length of the detox at the ARU is between 3-5 days depending on the patients overall condition. After detox, recommendations are made for continued inpatient or outpatient treatment.

“Patients like Amber are very common to us on the ARU. Because we are a hospital based unit, we can accept people with the most severe cases of addiction from all drugs, including alcohol. We also admit patients that other programs are not willing to accept due to the fact that they have other medical conditions that make the detox process a higher level of risk.” States Dr. Michael Cromer; Medical Director for Town & Country Hospital’s Alcohol and Drug Recovery Unit.

Dr. Cromer is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, therefore, he is capable of addressing any acute medical condition that might arise in an efficient manner with the trained staff and facilities at Town & Country Hospital.

Town & Country Hospital has recently expanded their addiction service line capabilities to include the New Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) The New IOP provides treatment and counseling for alcohol, stimulants, opiates, prescription drugs, illicit drugs or methadone for patients 18 years and older. The New IOP program provides group therapy three hours a night, three nights a week for 8 weeks for patients having a diagnosis of Substance Abuse or Dependency. IOP’s are used as a step up from individual outpatient counseling and traditional support groups and can be used as an appropriate step down from acute inpatient detox, residential and/ or partial hospitalization care.

Town & Country’s ARU has been helping people with addictions for over 25 years. Dr. Michael Cromer has been the Medical Director for 18 years. The ARU provides 20 private rooms in the unit for inpatient treatment. Trained addiction counselors formulate individualized treatment plans and provide daily interventions. How long does it take for detox pills not to show up on a drug test?

Question by Adam Wagner: How long does it take for detox pills not to show up on a drug test?
I'm looking for a job but I know I will be drug tested if a place decides to hire me. I havent smoked in a week and i've been taking AZO cranberry pills and drinking tons of water a day. I hear getting detox pills or something like it will clean out your system but will also show up on a drug test. How long will it stay in your system to show that you took some sort of detox?

Best answer:

Answer by The Drug Test Guy
Yes, detox products can alter human urine. A lot of the detox products do nothing, but the ones that do work will change your urine. If the person testing you uses an "Adulteration Test" they can see if you provided a "good urine sample". That is, a urine adulteration test performed will show that there is something unusual about your urine: creatinine, nitrite, PH, etc. levels may be off and show them that you have “altered” your urine sample. They will then probably throw out the test and call it positive. For more information, see http://www.uatests.com/types-of-drug-tests/urine-adulteration-test.html - complete information on urine adulteration, altered urine samples.
