What Is A Detox Diet – Understand a Detox Diet Before You Go For It

Do you know exactly what a detox diet is? It is actually a powerful technique which helps to eliminate and remove harmful toxins accumulated in our bodies for optimal health.

There are different kinds of detox diets in the market. Those include eating raw food, vegetables and fruits which are all designed to improve the frequency of urination. It sounds easy and simple but it is best if you can get the expert's advice before you try it out yourself.

You might not believe in the benefits of detox diets if you do not experience anything wrong in your body previously but all studies and researches recommend that our bodies' function will eventually go wrong when too much dangerous toxins has accumulated inside our bodies after some time.

Majority of us only start to take serious action when we face with some problems in our bodies like nutritional deficiency, hormonal imbalance or inefficient digestion. But think it wisely. Why should we always wait until problems arise before we take any action? In fact, prevention is the best cure against any illness.

Other than expelling dangerous toxins out from our bodies, detox diet also improves our energy level, mind concentration and body digestion. After the detoxification process, you can even see that your skin is getting fairer and clearer.

Before you decide to start a detox diet plan, you need to understand that there could be some side effects. The most common side effect that you will face during the first few days is headache problem. This is especially obvious if you drink coffee on a regular basis. However, you can minimise the side effect by decreasing the amount of caffeine gradually until you no longer need the caffeine anymore.

The next common side effect is none other than diarrhea. If the diarrhea is not treated properly, it may even lead to dehydration. Nevertheless, sometime the opposite, i.e. constipation may happen on certain individuals. You can prevent both side effects by drinking lots of water. Other side effects that may happen at the beginning stage are fatigue, weight loss or even acne.

All these side effects are something that we should take note and be prepared before starting a detox diet. Apart from that, we must note that no everyone is suitable for it. Pregnant women as well as young kids are not suitable for it.

Furthermore, you should only try it under the supervision of your medical doctors if you are currently diagnosed with cancer, anemia, immune system disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, certain genetic disease, kidney disease or any other chronic disease. This is crucial and should not be neglected.

The detox diet is only for a short period of time as it may result in nutrient deficiencies if this is done for a long period of time without proper guidance and supervision. Thus, it is advisable to perform the it only once or twice a year.

For those under certain medication, you should continue with the medication unless permitted by your medical doctor.

When the detox diet plan is complete, you can go back to your usual diet with some positive changes in your diet like eating more vegetables and healthy fruits.

Now, you already have a better understanding of what detox diet is, you can decide whether you want to try this out or not. It is definitely good for the body if this is done in a proper manner. Hence, get some useful guidance and coaching before you start your detox diet journey!

Cure the Effects of Bad Habits with a Detox Cleanse

Every day we fulfill multiple roles.  This can include parent, child, student, employee, boss, friend, etc.  We all know the world is becoming more stressful as we strive to pack more into each day.  If you are like many adults, you may use unhealthy foods, smoking, alcohol, prescription drugs, and other harmful habits just to keep going.  Your body may be full of toxins that are making your cells work inefficiently, spreading illness, fatigue, and stress throughout your system.

If you have decided to start again and cleanse your body, a detox diet and regimen may work for you.  When you are taking the right food and drink into your body on a regular basis, and taking the time to care for yourself, you may find that those unhealthy habits simply fall by the wayside.  Prescription drug use, alcohol, and smoking can cause many health problems, and a good detox may be able to help some of these issues.  As many detox diets include eating whole, healthy foods, even bad diets can be overcome! Many people have claimed that they actually look and feel a younger once they have performed a cleanse and stopped their toxic relationships with bad foods, smoking, medications, and alcohol.

A water fast can be very effective at flushing these toxins out of your system.  This is a highly effective and intense cleanse which requires rest.  Therefore if you are working long hours it may not be suitable for you at this present time.  You may have noticed that when animals are ill, they will refuse to eat but continue to rest and drink water.  They naturally know that their bodies will heal with sleep and water.  Since your body will not need to digest food during this cleanse, it can more effectively rush the water through your system to flush out the impurities.

An apple fast can also be very effective, especially if you are a smoker.  The apples actually purge the nicotine from your body during the cleanse.  As with all fasts, it is important to rest during this process as you will experience the usual detox symptoms.  Organic apples are the best choice for a detox, as they do not contain the toxins used in standard apple-growing processes.

When you undertake a detox diet, (and depending on how toxic your body is) you will feel the effects of the cleansing as the body rids itself of toxic residues that have no place or purpose.   You may experience headaches, flu like symptoms, dizziness, lightheaded and may even feel irritable.   If you are thinking of cleansing or detoxing, it's important to assess whether or not you are able to rest if you need to.  However, if this is not possible you can begin assisting the body in gentle cleansing on a daily basis with specific foods which have been found to have potent qualities in removing toxins and heavy metals such as apples as previously mentioned.

Once your body begins to experience the benefits of detoxification, you may find that you no longer crave unhealthy, dead foods or alcohol and tobacco.  This is the ultimate desired result, as eating healthier and taking better care of your body will help you live a longer, better life with less symptoms of aging, illness, and disease that can be caused by toxic habits.

Make Your Skin Vibrant and Youthful With a Detox Cleanse

Did you know that your skin is your body's largest organ?  It only makes sense that when your body becomes full of toxins, you begin to look and feel ill.  Your skin show some of the first signs of toxicity, and a detox cleanse can help clean your pores and bring a healthy glow to your face and body.

Many people prefer to combine their detox diets with detox cleansing.  By soaking in a detox bath, you will absorb magnesium through the skin to help draw heavy metals and toxins from your cells, soothe and relax your muscles, reduce swelling, and calm down.  Epsom salts are a popular detoxifying ingredient for bathing.  Check the ingredients on your Epsom salt labels to make sure they are at least 95% to 100% pure.  Run warm water in your bathtub and add 2 to 4 cups of the salts.  Lighting candles and playing soft music will help your whole body relax as your skin is cleansed.  Since Epsom salts are a good cleanser, you will not need to use soap in your bath.

Another popular ingredient for detox baths is freshly grated ginger.  When you add 1/8 cup to the running water, it will open your pores and eliminate the toxins.  A third recipe is to combine 2 cups of baking soda, 1 cup of sea salt, and 1 cup of Epsom salts, and use ½ to 1 cup in your bath water.  Before any of these types of bath, drink two glasses of water, and follow up with two more glasses when you are finished.  If you wrap the towel around yourself after drying off vigorously, get into bed while you are still warm.  Since you will sweat for another hour, this will release were toxins from the skin.

Keeping your skin clean and free of toxins is important, as magnesium is most easily absorbed through your skin.  Magnesium can help to strengthen your bones, help the body to maintain balance in the endocrine and nervous systems, help over 300 metabolic functions in your cellular fluid and bloodstreams, facilitate cell metabolism, maintain a good electrical balance, help the body to detoxify and clean itself, and help with the detoxification of heavy metals like aluminum and mercury.  The Epsom salts in the above recipes will actually provide your body with magnesium through the skin, helping your overall body health along with the skin's condition.

Your skin can also be cleansed and conditioned with aloe vera, a common house plant that provides many health benefits.  It can help treat your skin and is excellent for cooling the sting of sunburn.  Eating apples can also help brighten and tone your skin's condition along with providing many health benefits to your body.  Finally, you may want to try skin brushing as a way to stimulate cell growth while ridding your skin of dead cells.

The best way to keep your skin healthy and vibrant is to drink plenty of water.  Dehydration can cause your skin to look dull and lifeless, but drinking 8 to 10 large glasses of water each day can help bring back the glow and soften wrinkles.  The time you will take to cleanse and detox your skin can be very relaxing, enhance younger looking skin and can be a welcome addition to your weekly routine.

When To Use A Detox Tea

The human body was created with its own excretory system to cleanse and remove toxins, chemicals and metabolic waste. The liver, lungs, kidney, and blood remove all toxins, that are unusable, that harm the body or are not necessary for the body to function. Over thousands of years, humans have not only become civilized, but we have developed culturally and technologically. With new inventions comes new exposure to environmental pollutants. With change in lifestyle comes a change in diet and the food we eat. When the body is bombarded with toxins, chemicals and pollutants the excretory organs become overworked trying to remove them. The longer that these toxins remain in the body the more likely they can be reabsorbed. When toxins accumulate in the body they can cause symptoms of declining health. Therefore using a detox tea can stimulate and increase liver, kidney, and lung function to restore health and remove metabolic waste.

Detoxing is a way to assist the body's natural forms of elimination through the digestive tract, the kidneys, liver, lungs and blood. Although, our bodies are fully equipped to handle cleansing and elimination of toxins on a day-to-day basis, there are times when assistance is needed. If too many toxins are present within the body at one time our system of cleansing can become overwhelmed. When our bodies become overwhelmed to the extent that it has trouble cleansing or eliminating the toxins symptoms become present to signify that detoxification is needed. Such symptoms can present as PMS, headaches, fatigue, indigestion, hay fever, acne, bloating, jaundice, decreased energy, sluggish digestion, immune deficiency, etc. Once any of these symptoms become apparent detoxification can be used to clean and remove the body of impurities and restore health.

There are many forms of detoxification available on the market today. One of the most prevalent is detox teas. Detox teas are an herbal tea composed of several herbs and spices. Traditional Chinese medicine has been using many of these same herbs for thousands of years for purification and cleansing needs. In detox teas the herbs are non-habit forming, all natural and caffeine free. Every detox tea has its own ingredients however some commonly used herbs include cinnamon, liquorice, ginger, dandelion, fennel, anise, juniper berries, burdock root, coriander, parsley, sage, cloves, turmeric, black pepper, fenugreek, and Echinacea.

The herbs simply assist in the bodies natural cleansing abilities, by encouraging increased liver function, assisting the breakdown of cortisone in the liver to aid in inflammation, simulating bile to increase fat digestion and protein synthesis. This promotes regular bowel movements to stop the reabsorption of toxins into the body. By drinking the tea you completely flush the excretory system of anything that is present. Therefore not only are toxins and chemicals eliminated but food preservatives, additives, sugar and nutrients are removed as well. This is why some people think detox diets are good for weight loss. However this is not a healthy or smart way to try to lose weight.

Detox tea regiments recommend drinking a glass or two of tea at night before you go to bed. This allows the herbs to take effect in your body while you sleep. Therefore when you awake you can properly eliminate the waste through normal means of disposal. If you drink the tea throughout the day you will spend more time going to the bathroom than doing much of anything else. Drinking the tea over a period of a week allows for the toxins that are stored in fat cells and other cellular structures to be removed, in addition it allows for the body to adjust to the removal of substances that should not be present in the body in the first place. As the body eliminates debris from the lungs, liver, stomach, kidneys, and blood, there may be some side effects such as headache or fatigue. This is the body's reaction to the removal of toxins, the stimulation of the cleansing process and the strengthening of the immune system. Symptoms should subside within a day or two. Once finished you should feel refreshed with a renewed energy and ability to function and concentrate. Your mood will be calm and more positive and digestion should return to normal.

To maintain your health you should consider doing a detox cleanse every 3-6 months depending upon your exposure to toxins and if symptoms of liver stagnation or deficiency reoccur. Detox teas are readily available at natural grocery stores, health food stores, and even some naturopathic doctors carry them such as chiropractors. They are inexpensive and you should never use an entire box in one sitting. Therefore it is easy to keep a detox tea on hand. Always read the directions before use because some detox teas are more potent than others and may require different steps.

Safe ways to detox

By Dr nor Ashikin Mokhtar

You would be amazed at the amount of toxins that enters our bodies every day. we only have to open our windows to have exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke blacken our lungs.

Caffeine, saturated fats and all sorts of preservatives are almost unavoidable in our food these days. furthermore, who knows what other types of chemicals we may be inhaling from normal household items or processes at our workplace.

You can't see these toxins working in your body, but they do cause harm, nonetheless. The build-up of such toxins can lead to sluggishness and fatigue, and make you fall ill easily, or have headaches, skin and digestive problems.

Detoxification of the body, or simply "detox", is a popular trend, especially among the health-conscious. There are many detox services and therapies being touted in the market, ranging from the basic to the extreme. but how do you know what works, and what is safe for your health?

In this article, I will discuss some safe detox strategies that you can do for yourself at home.

Falling ill due to toxins

Our body actually has a good mechanism for getting rid of wastes and toxins from the body. This function is controlled primarily by the kidneys and the liver.

The kidneys filter out extra fluid and waste from the blood, and pass them through to the bladder to be removed by urination.

The liver filters the blood coming from the digestive tract, as well as detoxifies chemicals and metabolises drugs.

However, imagine if you just keep pumping your body with toxins - you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, drink five cups of coffee or five cans of beer a day, eat mostly simple sugars, and do not get any antioxidants, vitamins or minerals.

Your liver and kidneys will have to work extra hard to remove all these toxins, but very soon, these organs will become worn out and function poorly. when these organs don't function properly, it will have an effect on your whole body and overall health.

This is when you start to feel yourself "declining" - you may not experience anything truly dramatic, but little things will start to plague you, like having no energy, a slow metabolism, or just feeling mentally drained. you may also notice more frequent headaches, digestive problems, aches and pains, or skin problems.

Just like a clogged drain or system, you need to get rid of the wastes from your body, and clean the "insides" every so often. Your body also needs to rest so that it is able to heal from the onslaught of chemicals and toxins that it has received.

Quite simply, that is what detox is about - cleansing your system and getting a fresh start so that your body's organs and systems can go back to doing what they do best.
